About Our School:
North Columbus Elementary opened in
August 2006 as the first
C.L.A.S.S. school
in Georgia.  NCES is also unique in that
students in Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th
grades  "loop" to the next grade with both
their classmates and teachers.

About me:
This is my fourth year at
NCES, and my
ninth year of teaching.  I have taught
Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade.  I
earned a B.A. from Saint Martin's
University, a M.S. from Troy
University, and a Gifted Education
Endorsement from West Georgia.  I
have two children.  J.P. is a freshman at
Ole Miss, and Caitlin is a freshman at
Northside High School.  My wonderful
husband, John and I have lived in
Columbus for eleven years.  In my free
time I enjoy running.  I travel to the
beach as often as I can!
The C.L.A.S.S model's foundation is based on brain-based learning, and incorporation of "Life
Skills".  Within the model, students not only experience exciting, hands-on lessons, but
learn vital skills that help them to get along with classmates, communicate their feelings,
and handle emotions.  Looping and school SCOPES  facilitate a sense of community.  At
North Columbus Elementary, each child is treated as an individual.  His / her interests,
strengths, and learning styles are not only acknowledged, but are the basis for instruction.
